We endeavour to design and lovingly handcraft original, high quality furniture and interiors, using a wide range of hand-picked, local and reclaimed materials. Our well-equipped workshop set in the Hertfordshire countryside is the perfect base to draw creative inspiration and to nurture the spirit of our business.
We work closely with a diverse range of residential and commercial clients to design, produce, and fit bespoke, luxury furniture and fixtures, including kitchens and bathrooms. From creating a single coffee table or dining table, to transforming an entire office, bar or restaurant; we can cater for it.
With a bold mix of metal, rustic timbers, natural stone and glass, we have developed a distinct, industrial style that will stand the test of time. Each item we create and every space we transform, is full of character, impeccably finished and highly functional, whilst being tailored to your specific needs.
RoughLiving began with one man full of aspirations, and quickly flourished into the professional business it is today. Back in 2012, Hertfordshire born Daniel Spendlove left the city of London, returning to his home county and his craft, to design and produce beautiful furniture. A passionate designer and stylist, Daniel nurtured his dream and began by making coffee tables and other household items in his modest garage workshop. With a lot of hard work and inspiration, the business soon grew into a studio based team of craftsmen.
Two years later would mark an exciting point in the journey, when Daniel bumped into an old school friend, Sam Nicolaou. Sam had been working as a professionally trained joiner completing projects in high-end luxury homes for high profile clients, and shared Daniel’s energy and ambitions for the future. Now with a mix of metalwork, general furniture production and bespoke joinery, the collaboration opened up a wealth of possibilities for RoughLiving.
